Groom next time you come in, please wipe your feet.
Both McClellan and Powell were deceitful in dealing with the responsibilities they were given and by concealing the information they had, cost young Americans their lives.
Liars both and they are unwelcome, guilt-ridden has beens that probably never were, in my books. Now is not the time for them to step forward, they should have had the integrity to do that years ago. This country would have been much better off.

Moose, I understand your point. How do you feel about Ayers? Is it once-a-terrorist, always-a-terrorist? If we can forgive and forget on our side, don’t we have an obligation to do the same for their side?

Moose, I believe that Powell, who spent almost his entire adult life in the military, has several things ingrained in his personality that come from the military honor code
1-argue in private, but when the superior finally gives the orders then just shut up and follow the orders.
2-the civilian who is placed over the military is the one in charge.
3-never ever go public with any disagreement that you have with the boss
4-if the HMFWIC(Head M*****F*****Whats In Charge pronounced Hmmifwic) tells you to go to the UN and defend his position, then, no matter how you feel, you grit your teeth and follow orders

Personally, I think Ayers should step up to the plate and endorse McLame and lets see what effect that has on the bible thumpers.
(said with tongue in cheek)
Knowing now what little we were fed back then, the prosecution and Jedgar being as honest as they were, I reserve the right to pass judgement on Ayers. I also take into consideration the fact that not one person lost their life other than the two “supposed” bomb makers.
As far as sitting on a school board with Colin Powell, there would be no hesitation on my part but it would take much consideration to sit down with McLellan.
A lie or misdeed is one thing, when the consequences only effect your own well being but when those lies effect thousands of others, you’ve crossed the line. Both these guys crossed the line.

“When the HMFWIC tells you to go to the UN and defend his position, then no matter how you feel, you grit your teeth and follow orders.”
Or do you do the ‘career ending thing’ and refuse to profess such
bold faced lies and by doing so, draw attention to the fact there is definitely something untoward with the procedure ?
Timr, are you saying at the top of the military chain of command, an individual is stripped of his or her dignity for the sake of obedience and if so, why ?
