Palin’s not going to be an easy challenge for Biden Thursday. When Palin gets her mojo working like she does here, she can sling that home and hearth Joe Six Pack shit with the best of them. This will play well with the base and could swing a good amount of swing voters (white female) if they vote for the culture war instead of their interests, as they have done in the past several elections. This interview gives us a hint of her debate approach–being real passive/aggressive, just like the convention speech. She can go from earnest, God fearing hockey mom to arrogant assassin in a single sentence. Biden has to blow through all of this and remind America that Palin’s not an ordinary citizen, not the Betty Six-Pack she claims to be and hasn’t been for more than a dozen years. She has a record and underneath the hype, it ain’t all that wonderful. She shares none of the kitchen table concerns her peers do. Hers is one of the wealthiest, if not the wealthiest family in Wasilla and her county. I’d bet the farm that her and Todd’s net worth is greater than Joe Biden’s.

Biden has to remember underneath all that WalMart Good-Lord-Above-Goodness is a secretive, vindictive manipulator locked in a couple of nasty scandals. She’s a demonstrable liar. She’s completely incapable of meeting the challenges of the 21st Century because she has no understanding of what those challenges are and what to do about them. Biden has to treat her like he would any other failing governor and hold her accountable for her record, her views and her abilities, without condescending or getting too sarcastic. Make her answer specifics. That moose in the headlights look she gets is charming…
