Reason in the insanity
I have begun seeing some reason in this bizarre choice by Senator McCain. I have been up since 3 a.m. in Tokyo pounding my keyboard, and now I am sipping my coffee while perusing my morning The Japan Times. There was an analysis of the Palin choice on page 11, titled “Palin pick reinvigorates evangelical base” I was skeptical of people who wrote three page articles on the net about the wonders of her having a baby in the White House, and the fantastic thing that she did not abort a baby having Downs syndrome.
For me, these are personal family matters, but for the Born Again set this seems to be all that is needed to lead America, faith in Jesus. It will all work out somehow. And these people are numerous and they vote.
OK, I will say that I have been just as guilty as the rest of us here in starting my victory jig. But it is not over yet, we are not home yet. So let us smash them! Religious faith alone is not enough to be a national leader. And we are going to have to ram that fact home to a large portion of the American populace.
