Why I Am Starting To Worry
I’ve been stewing all day about this election. The media coverage that I am seeing today, maybe because I’m in the New York (Hillary) market, was and is all about Hillary, not about this and other good stuff we have been begging for.
What have we wanted on these pages for the past few months? McCain attacks. What did we get last night, except from Hillary? McCain attacks. Now forgotten McCain attacks. What will we get tonight? More McCain attacks, especially from the vice presidential nominee, as it should be? What will the coverage be about tomorrow? Bill Clinton.
Unless Obama steps out of character tomorrow night and attacks McCain personally, this entire convention, as seen by most Americans, will have been about the Clintons and a nice speech about the future for this country from Obama. The media talk on Friday will be brief and mostly about Obama’s (untested) showmanship at “the stadium” before everyone shifts attention to McCain’s running mate.
Then I expect the Republicans to pull off a Broadway show, compared to the Democrats county fair. Since the Pugs are going last, again, (why is that always the case?), they will get the last “word” in, and McCain begin to pull ahead in national polls (as he already is starting to do), not because of what MCain has done, but because of what the Democrats have not done with their convention half spent.
If this happens, I will not be among those who will say, “wait until the debates”. Rather, I will quickly agree with Yogi Berra who noted that “it’s getting late early out there”.

The out party always has their convention first.
As for your worries, I share them. The media narratives of this convention, which are all many voters will use to decide their choice, are heavily anti-Obama and anti-Dem. They were screwed either way, though: attack and be branded attackers, not attack and look like wimps.
Next key moment in the campaign: selection of McCain’s running mate, since that person will become president when McCain drops over during his first term. I’m hearing he intends to do it tomorrow to dim Obama’s spotlight.

It’s about time you started to worry. Those of us without blinders have been worrying all summer. I keep asking and asking, WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP? and none of you “reknowned” bloggers has provided anything!
Can all you do is wirte about you inner musings! What good is that!

Sandy, I have put conditions on my worry. And it is so nice to hear that you are one of the 18 million out there WITHOUT blinders while more than 18 million of us have blinders.
And Sandy, you surely know what you can do to help and you don’t need any of us telling you? Besides, I, for one, am not interested in talking down to you or insulting your intelligence about what you can do. We have written about it and we have provided links as well.
If, nevertheless, you want a check list, I will be more than happy to start one.

JAB, did the dems go last in 2000? I can’t remember. I thought that the repigs always went last just because. Whatever. The MSM, being on the repig side, will make st john look good. VP won’t be Jindal from La. He is needed in La to ensure that the repigs don’t screw up this hurricane like they did Katrina.
