Getting On Obama: We’ll Know Soon Enough…But

Folks are starting to pour it on. It’s becoming a chant. Let’s hope some of it is being heard. It’s from governors, senators, academics, punsters, and bloggers. I’m still of a mind to give him one more week and see what he has up until now held under wraps.

This comment is typical of what is out there. It was passed along by my friend, Howard Bailen, who is starting to wisper in my ear. He’s a PR professional and sees a crisis on the horizon. He’s patient in most things, but Obama passive indifference is bothering him greatly. I don’t agree with all of this post, but this paragraph caugh my attention:

“Politics is not just about issues, it is a metaphorical test of strength. If a man will not get immediately — if quietly — angry and fight back when his patriotism is attacked, why should we trust him to defend the country? And if he won’t punch back by explaining clearly why his approach to foreign policy is actually tougher and smarter, why McCain’s is thoughtless and reckless, why would we think he is better to be Commander in Chief?”

On this point she is right on. This is why Bill Clinton’s softness on McCain bothers me. This is why I am concerned, as posted below, if Obama does not take McCain on in prime time next week. This is why a choice of running mate is important, more important in Obama’s case.

I’m starting to get a little nervous, but I haven’t lost hope. We’ll know in seven days.

I think it is high time to take the gloves off.

Josh, it is way past time, but the ads that I have seen so far don’t reflect much in the way of attack. McC’s campaign want on the attack. In response to the Reed ad they brought up the Ayers theing again and accused Obama and the UofI of hiding some records.
