Mr. McCain and his campaign seem to have an ongoing problem with copyright law.    Once?  A mistake.  Twice?  I hate to mention it because I’m seeming a bit paranoid.  But now it seems like a trend.

A few weeks ago Silicon Alley Insider reported that Warner Music Group seems to have asked YouTube to remove a video entitled Obama Love due to a copyright violation.  They removed it and kept that "copyright" message in place, but as you can see by the link it is still available with a little hunting.

It could happen to anybody.  Really.

Then yesterday we have a little flap over possibly plagarizing material from Wikipedia.  Again, maybe this is a close call.  Yes, these two look a lot alike, as do a number of other passages.

Wikipedia:  After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Georgia had a brief period of independence as a Democratic Republic (1918-1921), which was terminated by the Red Army invasion of Georgia. Georgia became part of the Soviet Union in 1922 and regained its independence in 1991. Early post-Soviet years was marked by a civil unrest and economic crisis.

McCain’s Speech:  After a brief period of independence following the Russian revolution, the Red Army forced Georgia to join the Soviet Union in 1922. As the Soviet Union crumbled at the end of the Cold War, Georgia regained its independence in 1991, but its early years were marked by instability, corruption, and economic crises.

Not such a big deal.  Not enough to get nutty about.

Wait.  There was that Paris thing.  Where she and her mom and her grandfather were really annoyed about using her in a commercial.  Mad enough to make her own commercial.

Hmmm.  Maybe they don’t understand that it is copyright law, not friendly suggestion.

Today.  This very day.  We find the McCain campaign sniveling that Mike Meyers contacted YouTube to have another commercial entitled Fan Club removed due to copyright violation.   The Hill tells us that "Myers had his people call the McCain camp to demand that the video be removed due to copyright infringement, according to McCain ‘08 Deputy Communications Director Michael Goldfarb."

There seems to be a problem.

Hey, if the Constitution is just a piece of paper, what’s a little law between friends.

My guess is he will get a free ride on these unless some one files a suit against him.
