Now in Japan, we have the G-8 summit in our northern island of Hokkaido. Frankly, I am not expecting anything momentous to come out of this. However, I did catch George Bush in a sound bite on the news the other day. Basically he was saying that America will not do anything to reduce CO2 emissions until China and India do. He sounded like a bleating goat. The thing is, Global Warming is no longer in dispute, the extreme weather events we are experiencing are proof enough. And they will get worse, much worse. More and more people will die, no one is immune. I just saw a thunder head the other day north of Tokyo. It averaged about three lighting strikes every one or two seconds and it was huge. It was cutting a swath some 40 kilometers north of my house. It looked like the cloud in the Tom Cruise movie, “War of the Worlds” When I came to Japan 35 years ago, thunderstorms almost never happened. Now they are common, extremely violent with flash flooding. Global Warming, it will get worse.

And the President bleats.

And Peak Oil. This one can destroy America. Here is a very interesting book comparing the collapse of Soviet society to the coming collapse of American society. Well worth a read.

Global Warming and Peak Oil are real, and they are here and they are deadly. And the Bushies knew. They thought they could just invade the Middle East, dominate the oil, and continue the profligate American lifestyle for another generation. Let our children deal with the problem of how to cope with a society where cars suddenly become unusable. From my trollings on the net, it is beginning to look like $300 a barrel in a few years. America cannot cope with such rapid change, it will collapse.

So people are saying put the Bushies on trial for Iraq and Afghanistan? Well I say put them on trial for the willful ignorance that could lead to the destruction of America as a nation. They should have started a crash mass transit program, powered by electricity. Now, we will all pay the price.
