Brokered Convention?

Not Democrats. Republicans. Yep, that’s right Republicans. Why? Because it’s becoming increasingly clear that McCain is damaged in ways no one could have anticipated and the longer this goes the more likely he’s going to get clocked in November.

Here’s how it might play out: Remember that McCain is the “presumptive” nominee, not ratified by the convention. It’s a long road between now and September and there’s plenty of time for more shit to fly. McCain is strong-armed into resigning for “health reasons.” It’s defensible. After all, he’s 72 and not in the best shape. The Pugs broker the convention and give it to someone, anyone, they think can at least put the hurt on Obama. Who might that be? Maybe Huckleberry Hound. He’s racist. He plays to the base and to their fears. He’s telegenic and funny as hell in a pickup truck and gun rack sort of way. He’s eaten fried squirrel for chrissakes. He’ll lose, but not without taking a big chunk out of Obama. Maybe that’s the best they can do…

LC, st john-1200 pages of medical records starting in 2000. Obama, 1 page, 6 paragraphs long. We report, you decide.

Obama’s “record” was a letter from his doctor. I wonder what kind of “rashes” were noted in his actual records.

Oh, and, all McCain has to do to get out the base is to wait for a 527 to loop Wright “damning” America and Pfleger saying that white people should surrender their hard-earned savings to the poor, mistreated blacks of Obama’s congregation.

All that will happen and more, Tess. But I’m not sure that crap is going to play like it did in ‘04 or that the Republican base is big enough to mean anything. If you believe the media, pugs are running to Obama in droves and the Dems are turning out in such large numbers, there is a real concern about the capacity o voting system to handle it all. That said, you never count them out. I’m the one who said it’s McCain by 5. I still think that–if he makes it through the campaign.
