The America Iran war, first shots?

We have just had a command change in Centcom, and now we have shots fired.

What strikes me as strange is that the firing was done by a US civilian contracted ship, not US Navy vessels. And we all know that civilian contractors have a policy of shooting up everything that moves. In the article, I saw no proof that the boats were Iranian. And who are we to say that Iran cannot have fishing boats.

Admiral Fallon went out of his way to try to keep US and Iranian Naval forces separate to prevent accidents. Yet there are still people in the US who want war with Iran above all else. OK, let me say it ever more bluntly. We will LOSE. We do not have the forces to attack Iran. Period. I have seen the war plans for attacking Iran. They all seem to think that a three day bombing offensive will be enough to force Iran to it’s knees. No way, they can respond in myriad ways.

Then we come to the question of nuclear weapons very quickly. Nuclear weapons will be the only thing for us. We simply do not have the conventional forces in sufficient numbers. In any case, the use of 20 Hiroshima sized “bunker buster” nukes has long been approved by Vice President Cheney to be used int he initial air strike plan. Yes, the Vice President of the United States of America thinks it a good idea to start a nuclear war against a nation that does not threaten the US. Just because maybe they might threaten us sometime in the future. Maybe.

Some months ago, I believe it was last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared Iran to be under the Russian nuclear umbrella. Russia can destroy the US in 30 minutes, and the Bush administration has needlessly provoked the Russians in Europe with Missile Defense and NATO membership issues.

This may be the crowning accomplishment of President Bush, taking us back to the nuclear brink of destruction. I thought that was all gone with the end of the Cold War.

But I have another chilling thought. The Neocons, for all their awful mistakes about Iraq, are not dumb. Perhaps they have some secret death wish, they would rather provoke a war with Iran that quickly goes nuclear and kills us all than face the judgment of history for their actions. They would rather be dead than wrong.

Sobering post and not an unexpected move given what I believe is Bushco’s plan never to leave office. Tinfoil hat aside, I ardently believe we’ve had a coup in this country and this is part of it. Every element is in place, from the elimination of Habeas Corpus to the wiretapping and building of detainment camps The only thing missing is the excuse to trigger martial law and suspend the election, which I believe would happen if Bush pulls the trigger on Iran . Here’s more to bolster your concerns and keep you up at night…

Leftcoast,

I have been studying this war since it began. The only Iranian influence that I have found so far has benign. Iranian officials got the Maliki government and Muqtada al-Sadr to start negotiations after abortive Iraqi government offensive in Basra. Something America has failed to do in five years.

I think we are going to war irregardless of the disaster it will be. If the Bushie’s can’t have the house, they will destroy it.

When Mullen said “it would be a mistake to think we are out of combat capability ,” he pointed specifically to the reserve capabilities in the Navy and Air Force. This is where they are planning to get their forces to attack Iran.

And in our bought-and-paid-for media, all they can talk about is Reverend Wright’s interview with Bill Moyer.

And I believe, the good Admiral Mullen is referring to Naval Air and Air Force units that have not been committed. That is all we have left, and yes, they can deliver a devastating amount of firepower. But they cannot change the situation in Iraq.

The key is that we have no more infantry, and infantry is essential to winning wars

But that is irrelevant. No matter how much we destroy Iran, they can still hurt us. And we will lose all our forces in the Middle East. They will all be dead or slaves of the Arabs. The lucky few will be able to surrender to Iran, and someday see America again. Those captured by the Arabs will slaves, if not killed outright. And the men will be gelded. And the irony is, the one power that has done the most to promote peace in in Iraq is Iran. And for that, we Americans are jealous, and so our leadership is willing to kill millions to cover up a mistaken Iraq war and save our price. Iran does not desire war with America. Why should we attack Iran?

Look at a map, our forces in Iraq are in a bag, and Iran controls all the communication. We cannot mess with Iran.

You know, there are some Americans who think that the US military can win where ever we are put in the world.

That is not true, there are Places we can lose badly, and the Middle East is one of them.

And OK, I have made a rambling post here. But before you get upset, remember, it is Iran that has been able to get warring parties in Iraq to cease fire, not America.

Why should we fight them for that?

Hello there everybody. I did get a little emotional there in my last post. but I hope I did not turn off a lot of people. There are too many people who think that the American military cannot lose because we are Americans.

Well I am a German-American. In WWII, it can probably be said that Germany had the finest Army and Air Force in the world. And then Germany invaded Russia.

George Bush has placed us in a very week position in the world. And we will lose.

And perhaps I did go a bit about what might happen to US prisoners. but think about it. What has happened to people captured by the Arab Resistance? It has not been nice.
