Is an attack on Iran really in the works?
All right, I will go out on a limb here and say, “I don’t think so” In any society, there are behind the scenes people, powerful people who do not like the spotlight. I think those people in America have realized that a war with Iran would bring nothing good. The release of the National Intelligence Estimate last year shows me that such people exist.
In my post “A cry in the dark” I talked about initiative in military campaigns. Well how long would America retain the initiative in a war with Iran? About a day. Within a day, Iran will react, and from then on we will be dancing to their tune. We will lose that war. We will lose most of our forces in the Middle East. Every base in the Persian Gulf will be totally lost, some 10 to 20% of the troops in Iraq might reach the Med to be evacuated. That is a worst case scenario, but it is the more probable one.
And I think this has been realized by many in America. However, we should not become complacent, in Washington we have an administration that is simply vile. So for myself, anytime I see an argument for more war somewhere on the net, and I can contribute to the discussion, I will smash them.
