The End

Keith Olbermann in his inimitable style let it fly regarding the Clinton campaign. And as a (former) Clinton supporter, I share his outrage and can’t disagree with a word he said. For those who have read my posts over the years, one of the common threads is my absolute contempt for the Democratic consultant corps. From Shrum/Devine, who effectively neutered both Al Gore and John Kerry and served up their nuts to George Bush, to Mark Penn, who has singlehandedly turned one of our most intelligent, compassionate public servants into the first Grand Dragoness of the KKK, the negligence is breathtaking. These guys have an arrogant tone-deafness and a case of Rove envy that is fueled by compensation packages that would make a multinational ad agency blush. These guys fail upwards and get rich in the process. Shrum/Devine pocketed more than $110 million in media commissions from the Kerry campaign. Until the Dems wean themselves off these assclowns, they’re going to continue to lose, just as they are in ‘08.

Obama, to his credit, has chosen a different path with different people, but I doubt he will be successful. Penn, with Hillary’s full support, has fouled the water so badly for the Democratic Party, there is no way for Obama to cut through it. We’re not going to have a campaign based on hope, on the issues, on coming together to create a new politic. We’re headed back to the Civil War, to the lynchings of the ’20s and going to have a campaign of racism, of fear, of ugly hatred. The hell of it is that McCain and the Pugs don’t have to say or do a thing–they just have to get out of the way. To Keith’s point and to our detriment as a nation, Hillary and Ferraro have repositioned Obama’s candidacy in the worst possible light–as that of an affirmative action program. Not even Rush Limbaugh would have gone so far…

Well said.

I am also quite disgusted at the media for the platform they are giving Gerry. They have her on day after day after day spewing her racist crap and then pretend to be shocked by the awfulness of it all.

the “beltway boys”, members of “the village”, timmah, tweety, and others to numerous to mention all want conflict, rage, and everyone that they are interviewing-the gotcha questions-or talking about will be the victims of what they want. They say that they just report, but they don’t. Their ego’s, and what they feel is their rightful position in the scheme of things to be the final arbiter in what ever they think is “news” is what is driving everything about both campaigns. St john is their golden boy, so they will do everything that they can to drive away voters from the dems, see the Gore campaign in 2000 if you don’t believe it. They feel that they, and only they, have the right to decide who will be prez, and they want st john. Anything that he does wrong will be non news, or will not last longer than 1 news cycle, but if Clinton says something about Obama, or they find a juicy tidbit about Obama, they will drive it into the ground, harping endlessly about nothing. Agreed that shrum, penn, & co. are like hyenas picking over the carcass of whoever they are “working” for to get the very last drop of money before the ultimate collapse, but the MSM leads the way by ignoring the vital, and capitalizing on the trivial. Lazy s*its, all of them

The days of America just walking in on foreign soil and taking what it needed are over, that is the grim reality. Now it is the Bully’s turn to get pushed around and we seem unprepared to turn over the reins to an old white guy who loves the bullying policies of the past, the policies that got us into this mess in the first place. Or our other option, to hand them to a young black man, who seems more than qualified to apologize to the world, for our unforgivable behavior, right after he goes into Pakistan and kicks the stuffin’ out of bin Laden. ( which may not be a bad thing)
Leftcoast has come to terms, he thinks, with the bullies for humanity (the Clinton’s) and as far as I’m concerned, both Bill and Hill are scrambling for the same results.
Our mechanism for bullying, our war machine, needs to be greased and fueled and the rest of the world now controls the spigot. $110.00 per barrel and counting.
We must surely be aware of what McCorpse will do, to the benefit of the elite money mongers of this country, but don’t think for one instant that India and China are going to sit on their thumbs, while we disrupt their flow of lubricant.
The minute China detects weakness on our part, they will pull the plug on Wall St. and we’re all up Shite Creek without a paddle, if that happens.
This situation we’re in, far outreaches a presidential election, let’s ask ourselves, who on this globe will ever trust us again after the suffering that we as Americans, silently watched being inflicted, the goal being to get what we wanted ? I have my doubts as to whether Jesus Christ himself, could lead the way out of this mess.
Is it possible that a man named Barack Hussein Obama can help us tread water for a short while, that’s if we have any water left, we’ll know the answer to that and much, much more, very soon ?
It’s over folks, finished, from this point on, we just dangle by a thread. Didn’t you just love our dominance and “might is right” global superiority ? Well now we’ll get to experience the menial side.
Vote for a cap in hand apology or a war to end all wars, the choice is yours.

Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton have a long un-repudiated history of supporting the black community. The ridiculous notion that the Clinton’s are racist has been denounced by many prominent members of the black community. IMO Ferraro’s unfortunate comments speak to the power of “identity” politics and the fact that a large proportion of the black community is voting for Obama, while an equally disproportionate number of women are supporting Hillary. It’s identity politics - there’s nothing wrong with that. Like timr said above, guys like Olbermann stir the pot to further their own agenda. Meanwhile Obama’s spiritual mentor, Reverend Wright, says Hillary hasn’t ever been called a nigger - true - but she’s been called a “bitch, shrew, c***, pig, cow, etc. etc.”. Bigotry knows no boundaries. And everyone claims that Hillary’s campaign is calculating and ruthless - but has no one noticed that Ferraro originally made these comments on February 29, yet they came to light just prior to the MI primary? Is it so crazy to think that Obama’s camp may be a little calculating also?

Suzanne, a big part of my disappointment with Hillary and her campaign is due precisely because she’s been called every pejorative female term in the book. Of all people, Hillary should know better and should have instantaneously, without a moment’s hesitation or equivocation cut Ferraro away from the campaign. That she waited and let the comments fester in the news tells me that winning is everything, values mean nothing to her–all the negatives people have said about her, in effect are true. What other conclusion can you come to, other than to say that she’s been hijacked by a cadre of consultants who are venal and incompetent? In either case, she not only proved she’s not up to the job, she’s sullied 35 years of good works.

As you know, I’m no fan of Obama and think he is as fatally flawed as Hillary, in albeit different ways. But he fired the person who called Hillary a monster in a NY minute. Ferraro’s comments are orders of magnitude worse and Hillary chose to see if there was a political advantage to them instead of acting on principle. For shame.

I don’t think for one moment that Hillary is racist. (I do think that Gerry is racist evidenced in part by her similar comments 20 years ago.) What bums me out is that Hillary, albeit not racist, seems willing to use racism to achieve her ends. That makes it all worse.

And as for the rest … Gerry claiming that folks are picking on her because she is white is unconscionable and irresponsible. She needed to be gone a lot sooner.

Leftcoast - I hear you, but I also know that the scrutiny to which Hillary has been subjected during this campaign is tenfold to that of her opponent. And we both agree that Obama is flawed, but you’d barely know it by the coverage he’s had from the MSM and the blogosphere (a quick glance at the Blog Buzz tells the score). The video of Reverend Wright and his extremist views, alone, would have been an instant death nell for Hillary if he was her spiritual advisor. NAFTAgate, Rezko, sexism - all touched on by the media but not beaten to death like Hillary’s mistakes. It is my understanding that Hillary did reject Ferraro’s statement within 24 hours (the same amount of time it took Obama to reject Power’s statement). Maybe she sucks at campaigning but I don’t believe that necessarily equates to being a bad president. George W. Bush was a freaking genius when it came to campaigning and look how that turned out. And I definitely don’t believe that some bad advice from Mark Penn cancels out 35 years of public service. I guess what I’m saying here, is that despite the constant media roar that “HILLARY IS A BAD, EVIL, MONSTER”, I believe that her intentions are honourable, that she wants to bring positive change to America, and that she is, indeed, “one of our most intelligent, compassionate public servants. The Hilla abides IMO. Maybe I’m naive.

What 35 years of public service? Seriously you don’t get to include her years at the Rose Law Firm for crying out loud.

And no, she didn’t reject the remarks within 24 hours. It took well over a week. Also? If she can’t manage a campaign, Mark Penn, and Bill how can we believe she’ll be able to manage the country which is much more difficult?

Okay Sasha - fair enough - but then I guess we should take off Obama’s years with Davis Miner Barnhill and Galland (the firm that helped Rezmar get more than $43 million in government funding to rehab 15 of their 30 apartment buildings for the poor). Rezmar = Rezko. And you’re kidding about the Bill remark, right? Or do you seriously believe a woman is responsible for “managing” her husband? Sweet Jesus, Sasha - say it ain’t so.

I believe a candidate is responsible for what her surrogates say on the campaign train in her name. The fact that he is her husband is irrelevant.

As for that law firm thing? I’m not counting fake years of service. I personally believe that the years of service thing is irrelevant.

Sasha - Michelle Obama has made controversial statements of her own on the campaign trail - yet it’s only Bill’s statement that the media won’t let us forget.

Hi, the in-fighting within the democrats seems to be turning people off. It seems Hillary Clinton particulary hasn’t endeared herself to democrats. There’s talk that if Hillary gets nominated, some voters might just switch over to the Republican side and vote for McCain.
