Hillary and the Moral High Ground on Spitzer

Eliot is Hillary’s governor (and pledged superior delegate). She is running to be the moral leader of the free world, among other things. She can show her courage and stripes by calling on Spitzer to resign. This is not an Obama call. But in my judgment, Hillary would score major leadership points by making the call.

If she did, there are those who will say, “but why did you stand by your man and not divorce him?” There is no comparison, as I see it. But no one would fault her for the call on Spitzer.

There is another moral leadership call that Hillary needs to make: Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman VP candidate and Clinton supporter said Obama is only in the place where he is because he is Black. Bye, bye Geraldine, you racist sexist.

Update: This woman, Geraldine Ferraro, just said that any criticism of her remarks about Obama is reverse racism. Now what are you going to do Hill?

Is Obama responsible for what Jesse Jackson has done or Al Sharpton, Farakhan or Reverend Wright and if not, then why would Hillary be held accountable for her supporters deeds and statements ?
For you and Sasha to celebrate, in the disgusting behavior of Spitzer and piously insinuate that the Clinton’s are in some way tied to this mess, is not only farcical but leads me to voice a suspicion I’ve held for some time. That being, you are both “closet repigs” and would rather see Obama run against McCorpse, than see Hillary win the presidency.
All here are entitled to his or her own opinions but when it is presented in such a sickening lopsided manner, it must and will be challenged. You have quoted Noonan, demanded Hillary apologize for not publicly disparaging Bill, called her racist, called her pig and now this horseshit. I don’t know why I’m even aknowledging this tripe but for the fact, I sincerely hope you both reap your just rewards. Smug repugs both is my guess and Bdr has the unmitigated gall to refer to Suzanne as a troll, what is that all about ?

Amos, you have me confused with someone else. I have not called Hillary a “pig” nor have I called her a “racist”.

By the way, Hillary has just taken Spitzer’s endorsement down from her website. That is a start. You might try re-reading the post. I’m not asking her to take responsibility for what he did, as you suggest, but I am saying if she wants to be the moral leader of the free world she might start in her backyard. I’m sure they are waiting for events to play out so that they can “go along”. My other guess is they are focus-testing what she should do.

This has nothing to do with race, as you suggest.

Finally, you have missed what I am celebrating: what I am celebrating in Spitzer’s fall is that here is a man who had no problem destroying the lives of others, including prostitutes, in order to advance his career. He used rumors, not facts, to publicly destroy people. And he never apologized for his tactics. Now he is on the receiving end of his arrogance, indifference, duplicity, and hypocracy. He has earned everything that is coming his way.

“For you and Sasha to celebrate, in the disgusting behavior of Spitzer and piously insinuate that the Clinton’s are in some way tied to this mess, is not only farcical but leads me to voice a suspicion I’ve held for some time.”

And where, exactly, did I do that?

Also, you may suspect any damn thing you please. But that silly argument about Obama v. McCain rather than a winning Hillary is ridiculous since every single analysis shows Obama as much more likely to beat McCain than is Hillary. So you really don’t have a lot of cred on that ad hominem argument.

And, Mr. Handy, it seems that you missed the debate and the copious coverage thereof where Senator Clinton browbeat Senator Obama because he only denounced Minister Farrakhan. She insisted that he both “reject and denounce” Minister Farrakhan. So why is it a problem when SHE is asked to repudiate equivalent remarks by Ms. Ferraro? Do I sniff a double standard? Surely not.

Clinton has just come out really, really strong against Ferraro’s statement saying “I disagree” with what she said and then added that both sides should avoid these kind of statements. This is no where near “reject” or “denounce” that she demanded of Obama, and it’s classic Bush talk: blame the other side for doing the same thing.

Don’t ask me to itemize, you are both aware of what each has posted in the past and the inference of guilt by association that you attempt to exploit, so I don’t need the double standard sniff-lings.

If it is your wish to make this a “vote for Obama” site, then be honest enough to say so, that way you can polish your candidate and the rest of us can observe in silence. You make statements about Webb’s wife being Asian and for that reason alone, you infer she may not be an asset if he were selected for VP. In the next breath you want us to take note that the Clinton’s are racist and you speak of double standards. While I’m at it I’d like to express my appreciation for permitting me to vocalize my suspicions, decent by anyone’s standards.

Amos, “suspicions”, to use your word, is one thing. Facts are another matter and those you have brushed over. You’ve made the charges (like Clinton does) and now you don’t have the facts to back them up (like Clinton does). No problem at my end, just so that we are clear what you are doing.

And noticing that his wife is Asian and that would have an impact on the election isn’t racist. Pretending not to notice race is.

This one is for Amos: your gal Geraldine just said that calling her a racist for her remarks is reverse racism. You got to love this bullshit.

This is going to be the either the longest, most awful and soul-draining six weeks of the next six weeks or it’s going to be shittiest, most demoralizing and permanently soul-killer six weeks of the next six weeks, but either way it’s going to suck. Mightily.

Here’s what pisses me off: Just because I’m not mature enough to stop giving a damn doesn’t mean I want my politicians to beat the idealism out of me so moronically.

Sexist. Racist. Sexist. Racist. Sexist. Racist. Sexist. Racist.

I can’t believe what I just heard: the Clinton camp has decided to defend Geraldine and charge, get this, charge the Obama campaign with racism?!!!!!!!

I can’t believe somebody nicked Amos N. Handy could charge anybody with racism.

Last I heard Gerry said that they’re picking on her cause she’s white.

My gal Geraldine ? Didn’t Flip Wilson do a Geraldine … no can’t be the same Geraldine.
No one here has taken the stance, that what Miss Farraro said was racist, I think her statement merely points out, that with his credentials and lack of experience and if it were not for his pigmentation, people like Oprah and other prominent “Blacks” - your emphasis, not mine - wouldn’t have given your guy a second glance , this time around.
If you and Sasha are so sure of his nomination and his triumph over McCorpse, why the continued attempts to pee in Hillary’s cornflakes ?

Mute point now. Spitzer resigned. He not only threw away the Gov job but also a shot at the presidency or VP. I had looked for him to run in 2016. Chances of that happening look pretty slim at this point in time.
