Obama on the Move
by Sasha
After his two to one massacre of Hillary Clinton in the South Carolina primary, gaining 22 delegates to her 10 as of this hour, and finding that he lead in the total delegate count 62 to 47, we find that Caroline Kennedy endorses Senator Obama in tomorrow’s Times saying
OVER the years, I’ve been deeply moved by the people who’ve told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama.
…I want a president who understands that his responsibility is to articulate a vision and encourage others to achieve it; who holds himself, and those around him, to the highest ethical standards; who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved.
I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans.
Agree or not, she articulates much of the appeal of Senator Obama and points to why he can easily win in the general election. I wonder how many more such endorsements will be forthcoming.

Both are inspiring. Very inspiring.
The NYT’s coverage of the “rout”, as the AP put it a few minutes after the polls closed, was subdued. Of course, they have endorsed Clinton. I’d be curious about the timing of the Kennedy op-ed.
The most remarkable fact about the big O win was that the Clintons were ahead by about 20 points a few months ago.
Meanwhile Frank Rich has some disquieting analysis for the Clintons, who last night dismissed South Carolina’s record turnout, by saying, “And now it is on to… [real primaries] where millions can vote.”

Yes, this pleases me.
Josh Marshall noted that Clinton fled the state early.
Video metaphor over at my place. (a) So I don’t have to post the youtube here and (b) as if I knew how.

Obama can win! Super Tuesday will be very interesting. If he wins Super Tuesday the Dem party hierarchy will get behind him. This has to be an exciting time for American politics!!
