Some stuff to read instead of working this morning:

Glenn Greenwald puts what Dr. Thompson called the stomp and whipsong on Mitt Romney, who missed the Vietnam War while on a Mormon mission in France, and found the French to be the same sort of weak-kneed anti-war pussies then that they’re supposed to be now, without the stones for fighting. Greenwald (who’s been even better than usual lately) wonders again why the same people got so crazy about Bill Clinton’s attempts to avoid Vietnam service ignore the equally craven ways in which people like Romney and Giuliani avoided it.

Plus, there’s more holiday dumbassitude, from both ends of the spectrum this time: from the left, Santas in Australia being told that saying “ho ho ho” is offensive to women, and from the right, the War on Thanksgiving. (And in case you were wondering whether there’s going to be a War on Christmas this year, the outrage machine is already cranking up over a supposed misprint in a Lowe’s catalog that calls Christmas trees “family trees.”)

And off I go, to begin the day in earnest (by finding more ways to procrastinate, of course). . . .
