Orwell Has Nothing on Rove
“Those who control the present control the past, and those who control the past control the future,” wrote Orwell in 1984. Rove’s theater of the absurd claim the other night on Charlie Rose that the democratic congress pushed Bushco into war is getting amazingly strong push-back not only from the usual suspects like Arianna […]

Win the game, not the war… update
As we continue backing into war with Eye-Ran, consider that gridiron strategist Lou Saban earns $4 million/year to run the football “program” at Alabama. Coach Joe Paterno at Penn State earns but half a mil. Bounties of about $150 millon on are out on Usama bin Laden and nobody is turning him in… coaches aren’t martyrs.

Best of the Blogs At A Crossroad: We Need Your Feedback
It is hard to believe, but we are a month short of 6 years of blogging at this site. That’s an eon in blogging history, and thanks to all of you, we have been able to sustain interest that long! We appreciate your support and participation over the years. Now we feel that we need […]

The local sports-talk radio station comes out of commercial breaks with a clumsily crafted bumper of maudlin music while a dramatic voiceover announces the “continuing coverage of the death of Sean Taylor,” while the hosts speak in hushed tones fit for the lobby just outside the viewing room at the funeral parlor.
They take phone calls, […]

Wag the dog, flog the Zog… Hilla’s world
These numbers won’t make former co-president Mrs. Clingon very happy. What were the lyrics of that Beatles song? “I’m a loser… I’m not what I appear to be… I’m a loser…” Time for the doctor to issue a “medic alert” …and since Tom Cruise is visually a lot more electable than “Blinky John” Edwards and […]

Money Line
President of France Nicholas Sarkozy is a friend of the United States. He is asking the Chinese to reevaluate their Yuan during his three day visit en Chine. Last year France totted up a US$ 24 billion trade deficit with China. Peanuts campared to the US number. Sarkozy is attempting to narrow the gap by finalizing a […]

Boatload of Reads
Jim Hoagland got paid to write this:
If the Democrats nominate the deeply polarizing Clinton, other GOP strategists would prefer to try to make her and her gender the campaign’s central issue rather than defend Bush’s terrible record or run on the strident positions and deep divisions that this year belong to leading Republican candidates.
Now why […]

Lush Life…
Richard Roberts, president of Oral Roberts University. Not Billy Strayhorn. Who will be the next theocrat to fall from grace on the religious right? In Adam’s fall we sinned all, innit David?

Mark Twain… $100 crude
Scott McClellan’s revelations about the Decider and Lord Cheney didn’t energize a right wing owned “liberal media” to give l’affaire Plame legs this Thanksgiving weekend. It’s tryptophan city… A clearly impeachable offense has turned into a cruise to nowhere. A Hollywood movie is coming out to glorify Texas Dem and ex-congressman Charlie Wilson, who effectively created […]

Save your Confederate money
The Euro is now worth just over $1.48, its highest rate since being launched in 1999. That is supposed to make US “made” goods more attractive for “export.” Create jobs for working Americans. Maybe that’s why flipping burgers was moved from a “service” job to a “manufacturing” job by the US Labor Department. How does four dollar […]
