May the least inept… win
There are a handful of politicians running around the country on private jets, indebted- in many ways- to contributors, pretending to play the scripted role of the next “decider” for a post post-industrial, supersized, recession-in-denial democratic corporativist nation formerly known as the “United” States. As the “war” continues to drain the national economy, a Democratic White House would face the same “control of the Army” issue one encounters in nations formerly known as “developing” economies. The Kabuki show the Administration is fronting for public consumption to suggest it is listening to Republican alternatives to current policy towards Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Syria is just that. It’s difficult to do any visioneering of US senior military men acquiescing to Mrs Bill Clinton and saying “yes ma’am, we’ll tailor our policies to your guidelines.” The White House and parts of some cabinet offices (we hardly hear about those folks anymore) have been thoroughly trashed during a couple of GOP-Dem transitions. Most GOP appointees already equate Mrs Bill Clinton with Priscilla Nourse of Salem Witch Trial fame, the Red Queen from The Manchurian Candidate or a Wiccan Princess who has yet to get her ticket punched for Roswell. With the inept rising to the top on both sides of the aisle, just one more reason for an Independent candidate? Draft Condi? Draft Gore? Draft someone with “cojones” to lead the “Free World”… por favor… we got one more year of what France’s Sarko likes to call racaille… Google it and weep.

According to a memoir written by Wes Clark, six weeks after 9/11, the plans were in place to attack Iraq, and two weeks later the plan was to “take out seven countries in five years” starting with Iraq and Syria and ending with Iran. The other countries on the hit list included Lebanon, Libya, Somalia and Sudan.
It looks like Israel might be taking care of Syria for us, but cheney is sounding the same exact drumbeat against Iran that he used leading up to the invasion of Iraq.
If one or more of these attacks take place in the coming year, our next president (assuming we have a free election) is going to inherit a world of shit, not to mention an economy that will be in the toilet by then, and the largest deficit in the history of this country.
The republicans hate the Clinton’s so much that if Hillary were to win, the repugs would immediately launch a campaign to fight her every step of the way, putting this country through another four to eight years of turmoil.
Al Gore is the most experienced, and there is a large campaign to draft him, but he is the one who basically allowed bush to steal the 2,000 election, so how do we know he has the “cojones to lead the free world”?
Condi would be a neo-cons wet dream, wouldn’t she? Her presidency would be like a bush re-run, but at least she knows how to pronounce the word “nuclear.”
It looks like Dodd is willing to take the White House on. It will be interesting to see if he has the balls to stick it out, or if he bends over and takes it in the ass just like the rest of the dems.

Pat, Gore will under no circumstances that I can think of run for president ever again. Condi has stated many times that her only desire is to go back to Stanford. The candidates that we have now are the only ones we are going to have, speculation on Gore continues, but he would have to be crazy to even want to be drafted at the convention. He has it made, he is doing something that he is really passionate about and he has said many times that this is what he wants to continue doing. The only reason that he has not issued a flat out NO is to keep global warming on the front burner, if he were to say NO, then most of the MSM stories about him and his cause would vanish,

I don’t think the issue is any more the wars that America can start. Oh yes, we can start one against Iran, but we cannot finish it on our terms. We no longer have the capability.
However, the initial Bush invasion of Iran, and recent Congressional stupidity, (that includes us Dems, anyone who voted for recent moralistic resolutions against Turkey) we now face the possibility of an Iranian Turkish alliance against Iraqi Kurdistan.

It is really past time to leave, now we are destroying our ability to withdraw our troops.
I am not kidding, war against Iran, Turkey joins Iran to destroy the Kurds, the straits of Hormuz close, we would only get some 10,000 or 20,000 out before the air bridge would fail.
The rest would disappear forever, there will be no POW homecoming like there was in Vietnam.

We’re taking on way too many fanatical people as enemies. Do we want to win a war by killing masses of people and with what kind of weapons??? Mass destruction by terrorism and terrorists can kill exponentially nearly as many as high tech stuff. Britian “democratized” and helped westernize the Turks because they didn’t want ‘Stamboul’s German allies to be playing cowboys and injuns along an oil hauling Berlin-to-Baghdad railroad. Lawrence the dynamite man helped fix that wagon and got sandbagged courtesy of the Sykes-Picot agreement that gave the Hashemites sloppy seconds in a territory they decided to call Eye-rack. The only Dem with Cheney-like “global” respect, leadership qualities is Richardson. He could win if he goes back to the class act he once was instead of trying to look and act like he just walked out of a Mervyns sale outlet in La Habra, California. Looks like Bobby “what’s an American-owned motel” Jindal is in, and Dr James “what, me genetics…” is out. Rule one of the World Economic Order is “everyone is equal.” Translated at the corner of 63rd and Stony Island in Barack Hussein Obama’s hood, that is heard as “we be equal and shit.” Or as the NFL scouts at the combine say… “what’s his Wonderlic”?
