Dystopia or Democracy?

Perusing yesterday’s LA Times report on Dianne Feinstein’s powerful endorsement of Mrs. Bill Clinton for POTUS 09 begs the question of whether the senior senator from California sees her junior counterpart as an “entitlement candidate” who can win by campaigning to unite our nation divided. Mrs. Clinton has already served as, at best, a C+ grade middle-of-the-road co-president. The ultimate irony- if the woman who helped give America the likes of Zoe Baird, Ira “Mr Healthcare” Magzainer, Mike Espy, Madeline Korbel Albright, Dan “where’s the wheat” Glickman, a limp weenie NSC and John “the Bully” Deutch takes office in 2009- is that her swearing in will mark the 60th anniversary of George Orwell’s dystopic novel 1984. Do your homework and then ask yourself, how much does “political correctness” have in commen with Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth.”

With declining real wages and an incredible shrinking dollar leaving the middle class with IRAs equal to chump change these folks become what pretty boy and Billy/Franklin Graham pal John Edwards calls “average Americans,” one wonders what Dems like Mrs Clinton will do to help empower the “proles,” otherwise known as the rest of us. Al Gore used to talk about the “digital divide” but that’s history. We know who is influenced by the MSM (Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth”) and that the “proles” can’t afford the cost of being part of the concerned blogosphere. The usual crew of floating flunky Dem “consultants” will advise Mrs Clinton to avoid addressing the presonal freedom questions that were first raised big time during the decline of Lyndon B Johnson and with every president from Nixon through Cheney/Bush.

After all, thanks to the “Ministry of Love” a hit of crack still costs less than a value meal and when you ask the price of a value meal- Mickey D’s burger flippers are now classified as “manufacturing” and no longer “service industry”- the menu suddenly turns away and the “prole” working the counter says “well, I don’t know how much it costs because I’m new here.” And when you aks the “prole” at the next cash register how much the item costs the reply is “well, I’m new too and the manager is working the drive up window so she’s busy.” So the DLC and the old Walter Shorenstein wing of the California Democratic Party like Mrs Clinton. But a lot of policy/platform questions remain. Who will be Mrs Clinton’s “vice president” for the “oil bidness?” Can she revive the lost respect of our “allies.” What happened to the anthrax perp and that big reward still out there. Ditto Osama “legends don’t die” Bin Laden. And can she con the “proles” into voting with entitlement handouts that cost less than a month’s worth of “forward bases” in Afghanistan, “Iraq” and the Islamicized former Soviet Union” that will be as scathingly ineffective as Jimmy Carter’s CETA program? You don’t need to wear high heels to do that. Papagallo or Manolo Blahnik flats will do just fine. If the GOP can market themselves once again as the “party of Lincoln” the Dems are fixing to lose by a good length. By the way, 2009 will mark the 30th anniversary of Paddy Chayefsky’s dystopic smash hit “Network.” Are you listening Michael Moore? Keep your powder dry, if the post Bushco “ministry of truth” doesn’t rain on your parade.
