Quote of the Day
At the Carpetbagger Report, reader Ed Stephan responds to a post about media stories talking up the “inexperience” of Barack Obama (a post that wonders, as well anyone might, why no one in the media talks much about the relatively greater inexperience of Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani) by suggesting that Americans have become so nonfunctional mentally that we’re swayed primarily by this kind of stuff, and can no longer process discussions about real issues.
The quote: “We are being governed by our occipital lobes . . . the tiniest, most primitive part of our brains, designed only to trigger fight or flight responses and then erase the screen for what pops up next. The part we share with sowbugs.”
Sounds about right.
