The Beast From Elroy
You may know that I live in Wisconsin. There’s lots to love about living up here. Nice people, beautiful scenery, great hunting and fishing, the world’s best cheese, excellent beer, the top women’s college hockey team in the country, etc. There’s the Wisconsin Idea (Wikipedia: “which holds that the boundaries of the university should be the boundaries of the state, and that research conducted at the University of Wisconsin should be applied to solve problems and improve health, quality of life, the environment and agriculture for all citizens of the state.”) and the progressive legacy of Fighting Bob LaFollette. (Even if our Wisconsin Repugs have stuck a fork in it.) Russ Feingold is from here, as were Frank Lloyd Wright, Orson Welles, Spencer Tracy, Les Paul, George Kennan, and Georgia O’Keeffe.
Who may end up being the most famous Wisconsinite? According to Janet Folger, who is the current president of something called Faith 2 Action, it may be newly announced Repug presidential candidate Tommy Thompson, former Health and Human Services secretary and four-term governor of our state. She thinks he could be the Antichrist.
As we say back on the farm, I shit you not. I didn’t like him when he was governor, but that seems pretty harsh.
